If last year the Festival’s artist in residence was the pianist Piotr Anderszewski, the choice for the 2009 Caixa Galicia A Coruña Mozart Festival has fallen on the prestigious Italian violinist Giuliani Carmignola, who will be accompanied in a recital programmed for Tuesday 16 June by Yasuyo Yano on the fortepiano, and by the Galician Symphony Orchestra, which he will also conduct, in two concerts including the complete Mozart Violin Concertos on 19 and 21 June.
After his recent recording of these complete concertos, in which the orchestra was conducted by Claudio Abbado, Giuliano Carmignola now appears in A Coruña as both performer and conductor of the GSO.
